    Antique Japanese
    Takeda ningyo
    of an
    Oiran
    or a
    kabuki
    actor in the role of a legendary high ranking courtesan, a standing figure costumed in  layered
    kimono,
    descending on her sloping shoulders with the outer robe a
    kinran
    brocade of a large leaf pattern on a blue field. The large brocade obi tied in front indicating her rank. The head carved of one piece of wood covered in burnished
    gofun
    with painted features and inset hair. She stands with only her right hand extended forward. The figure is supported on an unfinished
    kiri
    wood elevated
    Takeda
    style stage base with front cut outs having a fabric backing.
